<abstract xml:lang="en">

The article explores the genesis of British "New Journalism" in the last quarter of the 19th and early 20th centuries. It analyzes a paradigmatic shift from the elite “press of opinion” to the commercial tabloid model. The focus is made on the process of content tabloidization, manifested in the simplification of the media text, the introduction of expressive syntax, and the formation of a female audience segment as the primary subject of consumption for Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) advertising. The paper also examines the rise of professional “Ladies' Journalism” based on the immersive methods of Elizabeth Banks. The study proves that the British tabloid at the turn of the century acted not only as a commercial tool but also as a significant agent of the socio-cultural transformation of Victorian society
