The article addresses the spatial organization in the works by Tomsk science fiction writers of the late 20th century. The Tomsk context of science fiction suggests an appeal to already formed ideas about the space of Siberia. The purpose of the work is to study the intra‑textual category of imaginary space, which is related to the category of plot in connection with the specific nature of the local text. Using the example of short stories the special role of the Siberian locus, its place in the spatial structure of texts, and its influence on the reading of the author's worldview are studied. The research materials are selected from the following stories of the 1970s and 1980s: «The Silence» by V.D. Kolupaev, «Fog in a Shoe» by G.M. Prashkevich, and «The Door» by D.S. Fedotov. The analysis of the short stories reveals a special status of imagination, which correlated with the fantastic but not identical to it. Upon further analysis of the text the imaginary space is considered as a special projection of the author's worldview. Particular attention is paid to the study of the image of Siberia, which has its own specific cultural context.
