<abstract xml:lang="en">

The article presents a study of personality factors that determine a person’s resistance/susceptibility to manipulative influence. The study objective is to determine personality traits as factors in resilience/susceptibility to manipulative influence, depending on the psychological manipulation focus on a specific area of the individual's life. The study involved 450 people (84% women and 16% men) aged 17 to 49 years (M = 18.49; SD = 2.576). Three laboratory experiments were developed, including various types of manipulative influence. A diagnosis of the personality traits of the experiment participants was conducted, and relationships between personality traits and the level of susceptibility to manipulation were identified. The results obtained are as follows: 1. Under the influence of manipulative influence, the social perception of another person changed significantly. Vulnerability factors to manipulation include reliance on emotional experience, self‑confidence in interpersonal relationships, and a willingness to overcome difficulties. Resilience is promoted by responsibility in interpersonal relationships. 2. Psychological manipulation significantly impacts a person's ability to regulate his cognitive activity. Vulnerability factors to manipulation include sensitivity, anxiety, intelligence, sociability, and aversion to activity. 3. Appealing to authority by the manipulator leads to a certain increase in a person's compliance in the context of material interactions. Vulnerability factors to manipulation include a tendency toward independence, restraint of emotional experiences, and responsibility in interpersonal and family relationships. The conclusion is made that manipulative influence significantly affects various areas of a person's life, while personal factors of resilience/susceptibility to manipulative influence depend on the orientation of psychological manipulation toward a specific area of the individual's life.
